Using Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, and building personal area networks. Invented by telecom vendor Ericsson in 1994 it was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.

All of the EFI Technology ECU products that run under the Power to Win 9.0 platform can communicate via a standard bluetooth interface. The bluetooth communication interface mirrors the existing serial port comms protocol and provides reliable connectivity up to 50 feet.

To use the bluetooth option you must first go through a device authentication process to initialize the connection and pair your ECU with your computer. Once you have successfully paired with your ECU it will connect automatically each time you open the editor.

On the Tools menu, click Scan for BT Devices.
Your computer willl start scannning for any bluetooth devices in range and populate a window listing all of the devices found.
Select the device that matches your ECU type.
After authenticating your device you will be prompted for a pairing code.
OK to continue.
The pairing code is the 5 digit serial number stamped on the back of your ECU. You must enter all 5 digits even if it has leading zeroes.
After confirming the pair code matches your ECU it will connect automatically.

Additional ECU's

Each time you want to connect to a new ECU via bluetooth you must go through the authentication and pairing process. Your computer remembers every device that has been previously paired and will automatically connect to each ECU when powered up.

If at any time you want to switch back to using the serial port you can disable the auto bluetooth search function under File/Options menu.

Notes

You can use the BT icon to select the scan for bluetooth option.
You cannot simultaneously run the serial port and bluetooth connection.
You cannot connect to more than one device at a time.
